Creating demand before a product launch is always a good marketing strategy. Pre-ordering has become a way to offer the customer the advantage of being among the first to buy a certain product. Here is how to make this possible for your business.
To activate the feature please go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products Tab > Product Types & Related Options>Pre-Orders
After enabling the option, an Actions button will appear which will let you customize 3 key features regarding pre-ordering.
Send Updates
Send Email Updates to Pre-Order Customers – You may send an email message to all customers who have pre-ordered a specific product. This will use the default template specified for the Customer Note Email ( can be found in WooCommerce > Settings > Emails section).
Product: Select the product for which the pre-order was made.
Message: Write the email message that will be sent to customers who pre-ordered the product.

Change Release Date
Change the Pre-Order Release Date – You may change the release date for all pre-orders of a specific product. This will send an email notification to each customer informing them that the pre-order release date was changed, along with the new release date.
Product: Select the product for which the pre-order was made.
New Availability Date: Choose date from calendar.
New Availability Time: Choose time of day.
Send Email Notification: Uncheck this to prevent email notifications from being sent to customers.
Message: Write the email message that will be sent to customers who pre-ordered the product.
Change Release Date button: Used after selecting product and writing the message to send email.
Cancel Pre-Orders
You may cancel all pre-orders for a specific product. This will mark the order as cancelled and send the customer an email notification. If pre-orders were charged upfront, you must manually refund the orders.
Product: Select the product for which the pre-order was made.
Send Email Notification: Uncheck this to prevent email notifications from being sent to customers.
Message: Write the email message that will be sent to customers who pre-ordered the product.
Cancel Pre-Orders button: Used after selecting product and writing the message to send email.
